Fire Rated Downlight Covers for spot lights - Trafalgar Downlight Covers are an intumescent cover used to fire rate the penetrations created by the installation of downlights into fire rated plasterboard ceilings.
In a fire situation the intumescent material reacts sealing off the penetration and downlight, stopping the passage of flame and hot gases into the ceiling cavity. The Trafalgar Downlight Cover also prevents dust and other debris from contacting the rear of the hot downlight, reducing the chances of accidental ignition.
Trafalgar Downlight Covers have been fully fire tested in accordance with AS1530.4 and can achieve a 2 hour fire rating with incipient spread of fire, the latter of which is required for all fire rated ceiling penetrations by the Building Code of Australia.
Trafalgar Downlight Covers are easy to install, in either new or retrofit applications. As modern architects and builders continue to specify downlights in their designs, Trafalgar’s Downlight Covers will become an integrated part of the Australian building industry.
